Pulley in a tree

I stumbled across this video that shows how to get a pully up to the top of a tall tree, without extra ropes dangling, and – get this – includes a way to remove the pulley from the treetop if you want, without climbing.

The advantages of a pulley in the tree are obvious for HF antennas, and it’s a great idea to have pulleys – you never know when you might want to put up a specific antenna just for a contest, or if someone else may show up at an event without an antenna elevation plan.

You will need:

  • Rope
  • Plastic tubes that the rope can fit through (to maintain shape and prevent snagging on the tree)
  • Pulley

Give it a try and see if it works for you!
