Radio in pop culture

Radio as a technology doesn’t seem to have a major place in most modern movies and TV shows, with few exceptions. Most recently, however, Netflix now has a mini-series where Radio technology plays a dominant plot role.

The limited series “All the light we cannot see” has a fairly dominant radio-based theme. The story is set in German-occupied France during WWII, and involves several aspects of radio – coordination with allies, detection of transmitters by the Germans, and of course other aspects to the story.

If you have Netflix and want to see a halfway-decent story that includes radio give this series a watch. Us radio nerds can ponder a few minor technical details here and there that may be a little off, but don’t let that stop you from giving it a look.
